Do you think these viruses are getting harder to get rid of??

I paid for trend micro pc-cillin,and i havew been happy with it,but recently it has been detecting these things but couldnt delete them as access is denied. Then when i try to search manualy,i cant always find them.I also have all the free antivirus programs, and the only one i have found that never misses them is Avast, but i think i have lost a few system files by deleting them to get rid of the viruses,as avast couldnt clean them.will i eventualy have to wipe my hard drive and start again.??

Do you think these viruses are getting harder to get rid of??microsoft office

Hi there,

I work in the PC security industry and there has been a growing trend over the last 6-12 months of a new type of malware (virii, trojans, rootkits, etc) which is becoming increasingly difficult for a number of the big players (Norton, McAfee, etc) to remove. This is basically down to the fact that their method of protecting their usebase is fundamentally flawed.

All these forms of protection work on signatures which means a new piece of malware first has to be caught, studied and then a fix manually created by one of thousands of researchers they employ. This type of protection is dying in front of our eyes.

I would recommend a program (which I have no affiliation with) called Prevx1. This relies on a completely new method of protecting their userbase, based on behaviour and something called "Community Intrusion Protection". This means that if one user of the entire Prevx userbase is infected with a piece of malware - Prevx makes this known to the community database, which in turn then immediately protects every single Prevx user from then being infected with that malware again without the need to download any signatures or updates! Prevx really is seeing malware earlier than anyone else, and managing to protect their userbase in minutes - not the hours, days or weeks than all other security programs manage. It really is an amazing process which means they are protecting their users from more malware than any other PC security program.

Virus / Firewall Program?

OK, i used to have Norton Internet Security program and i just got rid of it. I am using the Windows XP built in Firewall and i downloaded a free Antivirus program (Grisoft's AVG). Are they good enough? how good is the Windows XP Firewall program? Thanks

Virus / Firewall Program?moto guzzi

The choice of downloading AVG is good. But bit skeptic about the kind of protection offered by windows integrated firewall(until %26 unless you downloaded all the latest %26 most recent security updates related to the operating system(windows)).

Would recommend to use Comodo Firewall pro which is rated very high...........

Virus / Firewall Program?norton internet security 2008

you can't rely on the windows firewall... you need to download something.. which is the one you've just mentioned AVG... its a freeware so you can download it...
xp firewall only checks stuff incoming, but nothing outgoing(like a trojan sending out spam from your pc) it sort of half works!
AVG Free Anti-Virus is crap!

Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

Every time i startup my computer i first get a massege: "primary hard disk not found and second

does this mean i have a virus how do i fixt it? is there a free antivirus software i can download somewere... i had norton but i lost the disk so dont know what to do

Every time i startup my computer i first get a massege: "primary hard disk not found and secondary hard disknetwork security

AVG is the best free-for-home-use anti-virus program. I've had it for 10 years with no problem. It runs trouble free in the background, constantly updating whenever you are on-line:

Tuneup Utilities 2007 is an awesome free-to-try multi-faceted program which may assist you in fixing your problem:

Security Question...?

okay i have norton ineternet and all-around security from acer thats a 90-day trial... it takes up alot of ram too, so i was wondering should i keep it untill my 90 days is up or should i get free antivirus softwre that will lighten my load on my ram? i already have ad aware internet security so i need to ask what do i do!!!! id use pc tools great software unless you have any other ideas

Security Question...?network

i would go with a free settup like avast and zonealarm ..

Security Question...?norton

Dump Norton and install AVG, Keiro firewall , SpywareGuard, and SpywareBlaster

Uninstall Norton link.

I would go with zone Labs and zone alarm.
go to www.download.com and get the software from the internet security section, so try something like spywaredoctor
it depends on how much work you do on your computer. since you have adaware, if you need a lot of room on your computer for your work, then i would keep the norton til you find another program that you like, that doesn't take up so much room.
Delete the Norton and get AVG Free
Honestly, if any program is really using up so much of your resources as to cause a problem.. then it's time to upgrade your RAM.

I personally use McAfee and I do not install all of the extras.. just the antivirus and firewall... so you might want to check to make sure you do not have things running / installed with norton that are not necessary...

But again... if a single program is sapping your RAM then it's time to upgrade your system...

Good Luck.
Go to Yahoo.com and in search type AVG its a Free anti viruse and best also and use less Ram,

What is the safest P2P Program? (Limewire style programs)?

I want to use a P2P File Sharing program but we all know that Limewire and Kazaa screw your computer up BIG TIME! What free antivirus software can I install that will protect my computer from those viruses or whats the best P2P Program?

What is the safest P2P Program? (Limewire style programs)?nortan

Best P2P out there is WinMX.

Best FREE antivirus: AVG Free

What is the safest P2P Program? (Limewire style programs)?noton

Limewire is the safiest one actually, unless you download programs and any file related to sex.i think the best antivirus programme is avast.i've tried all of them but avast is the best to protect your computer.
I use the following P2P progz:

Kazaa Lite Resurrection

LimeWire

eMule

uTorrent

...and never had an infestation. You just have to know what you're downloading.

Anyway, here some antimalware progz to combat and keep the bugs away:

Grisoft AVG Free Anti-Virus

Grisoft AVG Free Anti-Spyware

Microsoft Defender

Spybot Search %26 Destroy

Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal

Spyware Blaster

Did I mention they're all free?
umm i find limewire to work great as long as you no what your downloading just dont download files with silly names. Kazaa was great for the time being but yes to many viruses go through it. If i had to pick on it would be Ares there are virtually a few or no viruses at all. Plus you get extra fetures such as chatting. And its quite popular so you can find pretty much any song.
